Gadd was under 18 when he started his career performing at clubs in London. He played balled and early rock standards at two I’s and the Laconda-type venues. A film producer, Robert Hartford-Davis, spotted him and got a big break. Robert Hartford-Davis secured a recording session with Decca Records for him.
